Get Outside to be Happy

This belief is often defined as: an innate love for the natural world, supposed to be felt universally by humankind.

Interesting and I ask you how can we disagree with this statement?

I am sure you have felt the struggle and disconnection, wondering what are we doing here? What is the point?

I believe that re-connecting with nature is a great self-help mechanism which can be easily achieved by everyone, including you.

We curate lives with nature kinda fitting in around us, we cannot really escape it, nor should we because it’s a basic desire and need that we have. It is something to cherish and embrace, get involved in and be part of.

We need to be apart of nature in order to thrive as not that long ago we were properly apart of it, not somehow propped up on a pedestal looking down at it as we seem to now. In fact without realising it we seem to desire it wherever we go.

There are many other benefits to being outdoors as well, including getting some sunshine on your skin to help the creation of vitamin D as well as just disconnecting from all things tech. Even the change in temperatures you encounter are good for your body, forcing it to react.


  1. Houses with lovely views sell for premiums because we desire nature.
  2. Domestic pets allow us to pretend we are living once more with nature.
  3. We plant our gardens with flowers and decorate our homes with dry, dying pot plants.
  4. The most expensive holiday destinations are naturally rich and diverse.
  5. We help preserve animals and plants in our environment.

For nature the world to survive there must be an element of emotional link between us and virtually everything we see, else nothing would ever be protected. This is why I know its essential for you to get outside and become more apart of the world once more.


This is the simple part. if you don’t get outside much here are a number of ways you can start.

  • Eat your breakfast outside on the morning
  • Walk to work or school
  • Take the dog out twice a day
  • Take a walk at your break time and go to a place where there is wildlife of some sort
  • Get the kids out fishing (I can teach you how)
  • Go crabbing at the beach
  • Drink your pint outside

There are literally thousands of ways to enjoy time outside and there is never an excuse about the weather being to bad, it’s a choice of bad clothing!

We are apart of the natural world, however much you might like to disagree and to be truly happy we need to embrace the environment and once again become apart of it.

I am going to refer to this a whole lot more as it forms part of my philosophy that in order to feel better we don’t just need positive thoughts and actions but we need to get outside and live!
